Jackie Ranken: Red Stripe #1 - Beijing

Jackie Ranken - Canon Master

When I travel I like to feel like a photographer not a tourist.  I am more interested in being aware of what is happening around me, watching the light and the interplay of shapes within the frame. In this case I was photographing the interesting architecture when I noticed a man about to step though the archway. I was in the middle of a double exposure at the time, so just went with the flow and made this shot when he stepped through.

The red colour represents China. I really like the way two images multiple exposed together make a stronger communication about the architecture and the culture.
