Windmills

Hau Nui wind farm is situated about 20 kilometres from the Martinborough township. Built in 1996, it is New Zealand's first commercial wind farm and generates enough electricity to power 1500 homes. The structures are designed to withstand wind speeds up to 240km/h.

Hau Nui (meaning 'strong wind' in Maori).
